Vava’s 4K Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector is stunning and versatile, with a few caveats

As big as modern TVs are, there’s nothing quite like watching a movie on a giant projected image. Unfortunately getting a decent home theater experience at home usually requires a great deal of work and commitment, forcing you to carefully position an overhead projection and run wires over long stretches. It’s a pain, especially if you ever want to move your setup to another location, or don’t have the time and energy to make it happen. That’s where Ultra Short Throw (UST) Projectors come in. But from tomorrow, it’ll also be known as the first European country to have a commercially-available 5G smartphone service. On May 1, OPPO will launch the 5G version of its Reno handset in the country, available exclusively on the country’s biggest network, Swisscom. This is, in effect, Europe’s first commercially available 5G smartphone. Prices for the Reno 5G will start from CHF 999 (roughly $980). That’s more than double the cost of the 4G OPPO Reno handset,…

Build a Slack App in 10 Minutes with MongoDB Stitch

This article was originally published on MongoDB. Thank you for supporting the partners who make SitePoint possible.

Slack is not only the fastest growing startup in history, but it's also an app by the same name and one of the most popular communication tools in use today. We use it extensively at MongoDB to foster efficient communications between teams and across the company. We're not alone. It seems like every developer I encounter uses it in their company as well.

One interesting thing about Slack (and there are many) is its extensibility. There are several ways you can extend Slack. Building chatbots, applications that interface with the communication service and extending Slack through the introduction of additional commands called “slash commands” that enable Slack users to communicate with external services. A website is essentially your home on the web, so it makes sense that a business needs to invest properly in this area to ensure it projects a professional appearance. For instance:

A consultant needs to convey their expertise and a corporate-looking website will project that confidence.
A lawyer needs to offer a complete rundown of their services and a website with stylish services widget will accomplish this.
Someone working in PR needs to feature their best clients with killer testimonials; appropriate use of a slider will get the job done.
The point here is, small business owners and entrepreneurs can benefit tremendously from having a well-designed, professional website. And as a web designer, it’s your job to build a quality website for your clients—on time and on budget.

French supermarket giant Carrefour is ready to sell blockchain-enabled cheese. Carrefour will soon allow customers to scan QR codes embedded in the packaging of its Rocamadour CQL fromage to learn more about the product’s origin, reports European Supermarket Magazine. These have ‘protected designation of origin‘ (PDO) status, which highlights speciality foods produced in localized regions to protect the integrity of their production. “The cheese gets its name from the commune of Rocamadour with its blessed Virgin Mary sanctuary.
